We have booked this resort for the Christmas Holidays. Can anyone tell me if there is a bank machine at this resort or within walking distance? Also can anyone recommend any restaurants and bars in the area?

Hi Heather,

With the right expectations, I'm sure you will enjoy your vacation in Juan Dolio and at the Costa Caribe.

I remember 2-3 ATM machines, one in the lobby, another out side the entrance in a booth and one across the street attached to the casino.
El Sueno is my favorite restaurant in the area.

El Sueno is very good.
Quality good and prices are good.
Take care about the ATM from BHD at Coral Costa Caribbe.
If you take money.
50 % of the money stuck in the machine.
This problem exist already one year.
You have to be very quickly to take out your money.
But I am trained now in that.

Are all the bank machines BHD? I assume that is the bank name.I was told that there were 3 bank machines at the hotel.

Better you use the machine in the wall fom the Casino.
This machine is from Banco Popular.
But late in the evening or early in the morning this machine is empty because of the gamblers, who takes a lot of money.
In the machine from BHD you can take 20.000 pesos in one time.
The machine from Banco Popular gives only 10.000 pesos.

I will be meeting my fianc? at the Santo Domingo airport and spending a week with him at this resort January 3rd. We would love to go visit your comaldo...nothing like a real Presidente Jumbo...and if you have any comments on this resort...i would love to hear it.

Is there a town map available?...We will be going off-resort to venture out.

let me know what we want to see or where you want to go specifically and I will let you know. Or pm me. There is a town map available which Steve G posted in a thread about Juan Dolio on this forum. Not too hard though as Juan Dolio is just one long street about 3 or 4 miles long. Costa Caribe is right in the middle so you can go either way! My colmado is at the San Pedro end (come out of hotel and turn right) about a 40 minute walk I would say - or walk along the beach it is lovely. It is called Mar Azul and is opposite the Con Con restaurant.
