UASD is free in SFM. If you have a 4 years program it may take 5 years to do it due to regular teachers strike. You may also study on line for a big part of it.

Sorry, I know I'm going to regret saying this, but this is asinine.

Just in case you spent the past 40 years in a bunker and don't know how to find information.
That would be me. I searched for the information I was looking for and failed to make much sense of it. As I hoped. several people here have a good insight into the subject and have been able to give helpful answers. Hopefully, it may be useful for others too.

Isn’t that what this forum is for. And for entertainment. For some more than others.

I´d avoid UASD. There are plenty of other universities where you can advance faster, and there are no riots!

Then that would be suitable for the kids I am trying to help. But do you get a real, usable degree at the end?
My wife has both a math and physics degree and a Statistics degree from UASD.
Educational Psychology degree from Pedro Henríquez Ureña National University. She says UASD was much more difficult than the other. Alejandrina Germán was one of her professors.

My impression is also that UASD can be ok. Some smart graduates from there. It’s very mixed I think.

But isn’t it where some go because they can’t afford Intec or Unibe or Pucmm or others.

Absolutely, my wife had no money and slept on her cousin's couch for a full year. After that she shared a three-bedroom apartment with 8 other female students.

Please have my full respect to your wife's degree/education, and to anyone, who has to make sacrifices to get educated. Perhaps there are good/bad professors in any place, just like with everything else in the DR. On the other hand, my wife has told on many occasions that buying exam results or written work in the private uni she went to, was "normal"... She didn't do this as she actually wanted to learn something, but many did...

The catholic university Maria Madre is an elite undergrad university in the eyes of the 5% that can afford the tuition. They have reciprocal graduate programs with some top US universities like the Kellogg School of Management. The UASD is almost free, save for some minor fees and materials. It is for the lower income earners and the poor. I don't even know why it would be referenced along with Madre Maria unless the point was to demonstrate opposite ends of the spectrum

Edit Madre y Maestra not Maria, but invoking the same
The UASD is cheap because of government funding. It pays faculty better than any of the others, and so has many of the best. The main problem with the UASD is that going on strike is something of a habit (students, staff, faculty, whoever), meaning it can take many years to complete a degree.

I seriously doubt this. Also please direct your comments to Stock. Looks like he's considering offering up scholarship program to the needy (female only) much like John. I have no interest in any Dominican institution of education.

Cheapest, yes.

Teachers earn more than others, fu** yes. All professors get pension and full benefits getting into UASD, And it's the one with higher salaries compared to top private colleges. For teachers is so hard to get in that application process can take up to 3-4 years.

About strikes, it's been a thing of the past long strikes, but it's been more less and less over the years.

Side note: the UASD fellows are the most hard-working people I've seen in private sector, but the more discouraged to be chosen to be at C level positions. Companies rely on people from APEC, Catolica, PUCMM or UNIBE.

The UASD doesn’t give an entry exam, so anyone with a high school diploma can go there. Graduating (especially within 4 years) is a different story, but starting is doable.

That means the really good students are surrounded by this example of fellow students.

I’m sure if what follows this Valentine’s Day is an outbreak of mono and gingivitis at the UASD, no one will know how that could possibly happen. It was simply bad luck.

This was probably after lunch time. I’m sure everyone has excellent mouth hygiene and brushed their teeth and used mouthwash after eating or, at the very least, used a toothpick.

Anyway, having fun between classes is important.
