Court orders opening of hearing into David de los Santos death

The First Court of Instruction of the National District accepted the request of the Public Prosecutor’s Office and ordered the opening of the trial against those accused of the death of David de los Santos Correa. De los Santos Correa died due to consequences of the blows he received in the jail of a police detachment that held him after being retained and handed over to the police by members of the security of the Agora Mall. When he was taken to a public hospital, he did not receive adequate medical treatment, either.

Judge Raymundo Mejía ordered the trial of the civilians Santiago Mateo Victoriano, Michael Pérez Ramos and Jean Carlos Martínez Peña, and of the members of the National Police, Captain Domingo Alberto Rodríguez Rodríguez, Second Lieutenant Germán García de la Cruz, Private San Manuel González García and/or Private Sari Manuel González García and Corporal...
