How does the government calculate the Crime Rate?

Intentional homicides are estimates of unlawful homicides purposely inflicted as a result of domestic disputes, interpersonal violence, violent conflicts over land resources, intergang violence over turf or control, and predatory violence and killing by armed groups. Intentional homicide does not include all intentional killing; the difference is usually in the organization of the killing. Individuals or small groups usually commit homicide, whereas killing in armed conflict is usually committed by fairly cohesive groups of up to several hundred members and is thus usually excluded.

There are lies, damned lies and statistics. That is especially true with crime rates.

But only when, in this case the homicide rate, is declining. When it's increasing no one puts in question its veracity.

There is the saying "it will get worst before it gets better," but they always say that. It can't "get worst" continuosly forever. lol

Also reminds me of the saying "you have to recognize the problem in order to fix it." Well, ok, you have Covid but you convince yourself its the cold because you remember the saying "you have to recognize the problem..." The Covid wil, not become less real becsuse you simply convince yourself it's a cold.
