what side of the island do cruise ships stop at? I'm look at this map and its doesn't show the cruise ship port.

Also when cruisehips dock whats teh best way to travel around the island bus, taxi, or can i rent a car?

Depending on the cruise there are itineraries which have day stops in La Romana on the South Coast or Samana on the North East Coast. There is also an itinerary with RCC, I believe, which begins and ends in Santo Domingo.

Generally taxis are recommended as driving in the DR is not for the faint of heart.

I would have to say that Mexico City isn't as bad as some of the Driver's I have seen in the North Coast!!!!

I say take a Taxi!!!
