I am planning on traveling from Punta Cana to Santo Domingo for a flight that leaves at 5:30 a.m.

My brother is driving me and obviously will be driving to the airport during the curfew hours.

If stopped, what is required? What are the implications?

Thanks

What a horrible time to fly. Surely it would be easier to get a flight at a more reasonable time?

During normal times yes. I know several people who have struggled with finding decent flights these past few months.

I actually like 530AM. You can sleep on the plane, customs is not crowded, and you don't blow the whole day at an airport.

Yes but if you have to get to the airport 2 hours before the flight that means you need to be there at 3.30am, and from Punta Cana it's 2 hours to SDQ so that means leaving at 1.30am. So basically you don't sleep at all that night and you maybe catch an hour or two, tops, on the flight. Not exactly what I call an ideal journey.

Add to that you also have the "joys" of driving on the most dangerous roads in the world during the night when they are probably at their most dangerous. And all of this during a curfew.

Understand. I live in Boca Chica so the airport is very close. I also don't get there until 4AM for a 530 flight. Never had a problem. From PC, I would take PUJ but I guess that's not an option for you.

I would probably come the day before. Stay at a hotel near the airport. Hampton Inn is an option. For me the day before is less stress.

Yes there is. As a Canadian, I thought I should do some shopping as my primary reason for travel.
Success. Highly recommended. Flight arrived at around 8 am this morning at Miami airport. By 9:30 I had completed my vaccination and half hour waiting time after the shot.

Have to give the US and these workers credit! Efficient and free, with the main concern being jabbing people and not forcing hotel quarantines on them.
