For those interested...

There was some confusion on a previous thread regarding the Atlanta to Puerto Plata & Sto Dgo service on Delta

ATL-POP began last Saturday and will operate (so far) through March 19, 2011.

#323 ATL 950a POP 203p
#324 POP 253p ATL 530p

ATL-SDQ daily.

Delta's service is seasonal and only once a week!

On a related note, AA is dropping POP-SJU in April as part of their huge flight reductions in their San Juan base. This was alway a good alternative to Miami and offered easy connections to the US.

POP airport is now overwhelmingly seasonal charter flights, what happens when season ends?? 2 maybe 3 flights per day in POP??

AA POP-MIA ( where the sex tourists are the only reason that this route remains remotely profitable)
B6 POP-JFK (wonder how long this will last?? Most Dominicans will fly into STI where Jetblue offers 5 flights per day! I don't think there is enough tourists for the north cost to support this route on a daily basis year round. )
AC POP-YYZ (for the expats)

Guys, the schedule I posted is for informational purposes.
Especially meant for those of us that travel from Atlanta.
I realize this may be seasonal and/or temporary but it's what
there is today.

As we know, in this volatile industry, its all subject to change.

Thanks

Looked at the prices POP to ATL and they are sky high. Anyone hear of any sales on the horizon?

There used to be a STI to SJU service but I guess that's gone too :(

For those in the Atlanta area, looks like you are going to have to stop somewhere and/or consider other airports besides POP.

The other day I tried to book POP-Nassau via Miami on AA, every day I checked price went from RD$33,000 to RD$39,000 to RD$43,000......AA are a bunch of gangsters.....so I booked STI-Nassau. POP airport will be charter only airport soon, if AA continues racketeering practices.

It seems that all you saying is only to talk without thinking right.

AA POP-MIA is very high profitable and it change to 757 on the summer season)

B6 POP-JFK is an protifable route and they make a lot of money, that they have plans to opens more route thoughout this station.

If you don't know nothing to say, don't even comment it.

American eagle haven't canceled that flight, it got reduced to 3/4 weekly flight.

Spirit air flies to STI twice an week and doubt if this last this year.

Twice a week until May, then 6x a week. This route actually seems to do quite well. It's always full when I'm on it. Remember, Spirit's fleet is spread very thin right now, (a year ago they only had 28 planes, now they have 32 after 4 brand new A320's were delivered. This year, they are expecting more brand new A320's. Even if a route is profitable, they can't serve every profitable route they have as often as they want right now because they simply don't have enough aircraft (yet).

Another example, for the past few years Spirit's service to Punta Cana has been seasonal. (May-August) This year, it will be February-August. (3 times a week until May, then every day for the peak travel season to Punta Cana for Americans, May-August).
