When things were really starting to look bad for POP, there's a ray of sunshine. Although it's not on their website yet, Delta will start flying from MIA to POP in September. As a result AA has already lowered fares. Schedules are already up on Travelocity.com.

No way!!!!!! Thats the best news of my life....

Please do give us the schedule. I feel like the happiest man on earth. Tell me, why are they not starting atl-sdq or even to punta cana or la romana before they start mia-pop?
I thought they were going to try out ATL-sdq first and then venture into punta cana etc.
Will they have direct flights from atl as well?
sam, where are you when we need you the most?

I am happy because my family works for delta and I get cheap cheap tickets through buddy-pass. Most likely, mom sends me the whole ticket. Great news.

Just checked travelocity and there is no mention of delta anywhere when you book a flight from mia to POP in sept.
Please forward me the link to their schedule. Thanks.

No, it is not on the Delta website yet. POP is still shown as an invalid destination.

It says it offers "connecting service." Which probably means a back-track to ATL, then to SJU to connect to Eagle to POP.

www.
Over the years, we have contacted Delta regarding the start of flights to the DR as they expand in the Caribbean. We are aware they have/are considering starting flights to the DR.

Following the post made above, we again queried Delta. This is the response we got back from Liza C?ceres, Regional Manager, Corporate Communications
Delta Air Lines - Latin America & Caribbean:

"In the normal course of business, Delta continually explores new service opportunities. It would be inappropriate to comment on any specific plans at this time."

To translate this into Spanish:
"No estoy a favor, ni en contra, sino todo lo contrario."

But as the US traveler demand for the DR heats up, we may be getting closer to having those Delta flights down here.

Delta to POP

Upon trying to select a date to travel, they all come up no service on this date. This could another of life's great mysteries unfolding.

ATl-SDQ makes more sense.

Sam, now your routing makes more sense ATL-SDQ. Mia-pop just didn't sound right. Who do you think will be delta's codeshare partner from ATL-SDQ if delta will not use its own planes? I mean, no one is flying this route. You think they might start CO in this route? Delta already has codeshare with CO from EWR-SDQ and STI (?). Am I correct?
Anyway, any new info will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

DL has no plans to expand its route map to DOM, they must work out to sustain their current routes. And speaking of POP, this airport lost its power when STI was opened. POP is for charters now.

Now DOM has more airlines than it is possible to handle, so!

and whats is wrong for RD to have so many's airlines??

Go to any other latin america country or europe.............
and you will about 5 diferent airlines.

If all airlines CEO WILL have that in their mind...they will never be a US air at RD or North American...or a Delta at SJU or DFW.
