I have recently come to the conclusion that music can in fact make you stupid. As part of my thesis here is the most popular song on the radio today:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/4r_yoG1Ay1E&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/4r_yoG1Ay1E&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

If you can't understand it, good, it means you have some sense left. The contagiousness of the beat aside...well you be your own judge....

pepe, pepe... I hear kids (not mine of course :) ) singing this song. It has no beat and is ugly imo. El fuerte is 100 times better.

I hope it is a fad like regaeton....

i cringe when i hear school children sing pepe since i am pretty sure its about male genitalia lol

but what about watagatapitusberry. the faux engrish is funny but i could swear i lose gray matter everytime i find myself humming along to it. i cant escape it. its everywhere.

Hey I love Pepe...mainly because I have an uncle named Pepe whose persona is just like in the song, plus the beat is pretty contagious (if you have some rhythm that is)...

Does that make me ESTOOPED?

i HAVE TO SAY, i LISTENED TO 3/4 OF THAT PIECE OF SH$%$^...

Makes little sense, has no interesting double entendres...No real dialogue.

A couple of good looking dancers and a bunch of really ugly guys...

I would not bother listening to it on the radio....

You are frightfully right!!

If old folk do not like it then it is working.....
Other favourites from years ago are 'Il Mudo' and 'Una Culebra'

Dang man, you sound like an Old Fogey "Them young whipper-snappers with that new fangles rock and roll, making all that noise and downright tom-foolery"
1st of all, your kids too are also chanting this music, just like you memorized all the lyrics from Jethro Tull, Supertramp, Steely Dan, Led Zeppelin, or the Doors...unless you were a Paul Anka fan?

Reggaeton is not a fad. It is already 20 years old. When guys started rapping they also started rapping in espanol. You dont gotta like it but you cant wish it away.

pepe refers to male genitalia in the song. Its a stupid barrio song for chopos. If you love this song, then you know where you belong.

uuuhhhh no. I grew up in the 70's and 80's but I'm really no music fan and in fact have never memorized the lyrics of any song less those from church as a kid or maybe some xmas tunes. I listen to my Dad's music (old blue eyes, Mills Bros, Herb alpert), salsa and bolero mostly.

Your the best man...I assume you only listen to Pavarotti on your Audiolab speakers while sipping the finest cognac in your penthouse condo?

I like Pepe for a laugh, do I qualify for Chopo status?

The beat is only good thing about it!!!!

Indeed. AND the intro from Orquesta Zodiac's "Pante?n de Amor" (Pante?n de luto y melancol?a)... y la jevita del pelo negro me domina con esa mirada de "vamo a lo que vinimo"
