I asked the same question and was told this name for a cook book "Dominican Cookbook (La Cocina Dominican)" by Maria Ramirez de Carias. I ordered it from Amazon books on may 29 but as of yet not received it there was a note that perhaps it is not available. If you do purchase it please let me know so I can also purchase the book. Thank you

Re: Dominican Cookbook-Maria Ramirez de Carias

"Chapter's" in Canada has told me they're having difficulty determining it's availability....another cookbook store told me it's out of print in english with no plans for another edition. I've tried ordering the spanish language one now....If anybody knows where to get a copy (preferably english) please let us know!

Re: Rice and beans - Dominican style

Can somebody give me a simple recipe for rice and beans. The rice part is not a problem. I guess everywhere you cook it the same way. But the beans... What seasoning do you use? Do they need to be fresh or can be from can? Thanks. Malgosia

Re: Rice and beans - Dominican style

Malgosia In DR every body prefer when the vegetables is fresh but is so difficult and take much time.

You can use

1 can of beans (without the water) 3 strip of bacon 2 leaves of coriander or verdura(go to the latin supermarket and ask for Verdura) 1 table spoon of onion 2 clove wholes garlic 1/2 teaspoon of salt 1/2 chicken broth cubes 1.1/2 cup the water. 2 table spoon of tomatoes sauce 1/2 tablespoon of season in powered 1 piece of pumpkin or is better(if you go to the latin supermarket and ask for Aullama.

send me email to: dominicancooking@mihacienda.com

for give you the direction.

bye.
