Does the Mexican Governtment grant Dominican citizen tourist visas easily?
we would like for 2 of our dominican friends to join us for 5 days in Cancun..
does it help with the visa process if they have anb all inclusive package deal?
is Mexico as hard as Canada and USA when it comes to grating visas?

Mexico is not as strict as canada as the us, I don't think it will be too difficult to get a tourist visa, but they probabley won't give you as much time in the country as they are worried about people from certain countries staying there. But a week or two shouldn't be too difficult.

So far, we have tried three times to get visitor visas for my wife, a native Dominicana, to go to the US and Canada. Twice no for the US and once no for Canada, just this week for Canada. One attempt for Mexico and the answer was yes. However, it took 4 trips to the embassy in Santo Domingo to get the visa. Once to apply and 3 more times to answer silly questions until they said yes. Cost to apply is free, but the time spent was quite annoying.

If the visa is approved, the only way they will be able to get to Cancun from the DR is to fly through Panama on some rather expensive flights.

BTW, once we were there, we hated it. I don't appreciate the artificial nature of a place like Cancun and the surrounding areas we saw are nowhere near as nice as the DR. We were robbed once, stuff taken from our rental car and never saw the thieves. Sorry to be negative and I hope you have better experiences.

If the flight has a layover in the US, they will simply have them wait in an international holding area of the airport. No need to go to Panama etc.
It is quite a bit easier for a Dominican to get a visa to Mexico or any other Latin Amarican country.

This is no longer the law. The U.S. suspended the transit without visa program in August 2003. Since the D.R. is not a waiver country, Dominicans need a visa before being able to transit through the U.S. en route to another country. For more info see http://www.usemb.gov.do/Consular/transit_without_visa.htm

NOT ANYMORE, you need a Visa to travel through the US.....There is no more "waiting" as you imply........they will need to go through ie: Panama etc.
