Of course Rum orientated drinks and ingrediants vary at every hotel and also vary with each bartender......same as the USA. Just try them out and you'll find one you like ....same goes for the bartender.....but if you want a really good drink go outside of your resort. For example for a bahama momma both use the same rum but the all-incl will not use as good of mix as most of the bars outside of the resort.....of course this is not the rule....just the norm.....and of course this is in my opinion!

Dominicans drink...

Well heeled Dominicans will drink good Scotch over rum. They will even mix 7up with Johnny Walker Black, Green or Blue!! Not many Dominicans will drink Scotch 'neat'. But they will swill down Cognac!-> the 'lower' classes of course. "People" know how to drink, but the masses don't have a clue.

All Dominicans drink President beer nearly frozen cold. Screw "cold-brewed"! They drink it with ice flakes in it....

Rum and coke is a lower class drink used in discos and bars. Let's see, who haven't I insulted?

99% of Dominicans don't have a clue about mixed drinks, beyond Daiqueris and Fruit Punch.

Re: Hillbilly, meet the Dominican Elite

Hillbilly, before you make a statement like that, try first meeting the Dominican Elite, which is as well verse in good drinking as any world culture.

Every country in the world has its crass drinkers, the low income people and their high class drinkers. So generalizing about Dominican drinkers can give you a red face, if you ever go to any of the chic bars in the Central Polygon of the city.

In fact you or I would not be able to drink with or have the money to drink next to the Dominicans who every weekend go to their private resorts in Punta Cana or Casa De Campo.

I believe the question asked originally was related to the most popular drinks in the resorts, assuming is the drinks served with the all inclusive package(National drinks only) and from my experience Pi?a Colada, Banana Mamas and Fruit punches are the most dispensed. You will not get served any fine drinks in all inclusive packages. It is not profitable. And if you are told that you are getting the real thing, for instance a mix drink with Licor 45, you will get an imitation instead. Real scotch is never served in all inclusive.

Re: Hillbilly, meet the Dominican Elite

Well, I think Hillbilly knows the elite very well. Being a hillbilly myself, I gravitate toward Jack Daniels and coke. Oh, yeah, the all-inclusives do not serve top shelf liquor. They will sell it though, for an extra charge should you ask for it.

Heck TW, I am part of that elite!!

I play golf with them at Casa de Campo, Metro, Country and other places. If you had read (past tense) the post, You would have noted that I said 99% of Dominicans do not know much about mixed drinks. That other 1% are those 80,000 that have large incomes, travel and are multi-lingual, multi-cultured and very knowing in the ways of the world.
What I did say, because I have seen it all over, is that most Dominicans will mix good Scotch with CocaCola or 7up-a horrible thing to do...And I have seen them swill-and I used that word on purpose-Remy Martin, like it was Bermudez Blanco...
I thoroughly agree that the drinks at the resorts are not anything to be desired. You'd be better off going to a market and buying the best rum or a bottle of Johnny and taking it back to mix in your rooms....
And, good sir, if you ever go to the merengue places or the dominican discos,, just about everybody will be drinking rum and coke(Cuba Libre or Ej??) or Presidente....I doubt you will find more than a couple of Rum Punchs in the place....
