Top fashion designer, Dominican Fernando García and his partner Laura Kim, from South Korea, are behind the NYC Label Monse and are the designers of the classic tailored attire that former First Lady Michelle Obama wore when speaking up in favor of Kamala Harris and Tim Walz at the Democratic National Convention on 21 August 2024. Garcia and Kim are designers known for their modern spins on classic tailoring. Monse is their private label. They both are also co-creative directors at Oscar de la Renta.

Hmm, the next Oscar de la Renta?

Oscar did paved the way for the development of the DR fashion industry given it didn’t exist when he was younger. However, Oscar became big on an international level with many First Ladies of the USA and princess/queens of Europe wearing his dresses. While many other Dominican designers have appeared, none reach the heights of Oscar.

But here is another Dominican and what? An ex-First Lady of the USA decided to wear one of the dresses designed by him? Other than Oscar, I don’t think any other Dominican designer got to see something like that. This could be the start of Oscar part II.

You're assuming that the dress she wore was something "special". I doubt " Oscar part II as it was very easy to get applause at a convention.
Will the designer get accolades once the hootin and shouting dies out?

Many postmenopause women (of course), wear these capri’s overhere, with or without some stylist Crocs together with short hair.
Nevertheless, if you like this style..black is the colour to go. Nice job Fernando!
(It’s always good to end positive).

Not sure where you got or came up with this, but your observations are interesting. Then again maybe where you are its different. Why you use the word "post menopause" to describe a woman is baffling.

You are correct. Whereas female, mid fifties would indicate a marketing population; post menopausal would indicate a population from a physiological/medical standpoint.

I am a big proponent of age appropriate and venue appropriate attire. That is why it pains me to see a middle-aged man with a pony tail wearing a muscle t-shirt and a baseball hat sporting a body that looks like a sack of potatoes sitting in a restaurant. I did like Michelle Os outfit, not her shoes.

If a woman wears high heels it has te be at least
12 cm. If not wear elegant pumps.

"It brings to the forefront the diversity of the people in the United States, a major country strength."

Do Dominicans feel the same way about diversity within their own borders?
