Dominican Winter Professional Baseball championship continues

The Dominican Professional Winter League (Lidom) has announced the rosters of the four teams that are competing in the Dominican Professional Winter Baseball Championship. Players from the Estrellas Orientales and Gigantes del Cibao were added to each of the top four teams for the second part of the championship. These teams are Toros del Este, Leones del Escogido, Tigres del Licey and Aguilas Cibaeñas.

The round robin schedule started on 21 December 2019 and will end on 15 January 2020. Some 36 games are programmed, of which 18 will be played at the Quisqueya Ball Park in Santo Domingo, nine at the Estadio Cibao in Santiago and another nine at the Francisco Micheli Ball Park in La Romana.

The championship takes a break for the Christmas holidays from 23 to 26 December. Games resume on Friday, 27 December with the Aguilas matching the Escogido in Santo Domingo, and the Licey matching the Toros in La Romana.

The last game of the year will be played on Monday, December 30, first between Licey and Escogido, then Toros and Águilas in Santiago. Then the league takes off 31 December and 1 January 2020.

The games will resume on Thursday, 2 January

The teams and their rosters are now:

Toros del Este: Locals: Junior Lake, Edgar Garcia, Warner Madrigal (Estrellas Orientales) and Ramon Ramirez (Gigantes del Cibao)Imported players: Christian Bethancourt and Logan Bawcom (Estrellas Orientales).

Tigres del Licey:Locals: Sócrates Brito (Estrellas Orientales); José de Paula, Carlos Ramírez and Adonis Sosa (Gigantes del Cibao).Imported players: Evan Maclane (Estrellas Orientales) and Jim Fuller (Gigantes del Cibao).

Leones del EscogidoLocals: Wirfin Obispo, Gustavo Núñez, Marlon Arias (Estrellas Orientales) and Abiatal Avelino (Gigantes del Cibao).Imported players: Eric Filia, Kelvin Tomlison (Estrellas Orientales) y Craig Stem (Gigantes del Cibao).

Águilas CibaeñasLocals: Ramón Torres Melvin Mercedes (Gigantes del Cibao), Gabriel Guerrero y Román Méndez (Estrellas Orientales) Imported players: Matt Pobereyko (Estrellas Orientales) and Andy Otero (Gigantes del Cibao)
