Don Juan beach resort

Looking for details on the Don Juan beach resort at boca chica, has anybody stayed there lately.... IE - what's the food, service,captain clubs room like also what's the pool and beach area like. It looks very nice in the brochure but we are just seeking more information about the resort.

We stayed at the Don Juan a couple of days last week as a result of being bumped from the Boca Chica Resort. Our room was a somewhat shabby, noisy efficiency with limited hot water. The maid service was not great. The extent of they cleaning was making the bed and changing the linens. During our two day staya pile of dirty linens and dirty dishes were stacked in the hallway. Food was okay, one buffet and one specialty restaurant, which we did not get a chance to try. Service at the buffet was very good. Bar service in the day was better than at night. The most positive aspect was the location on the beach. Very convenient and very beautiful.

The Boca Chica Resort on the other hand seems like a four star after staying at the Don Juan. The resort was very spread out and landscaping beautiful. They have a convenient walkway to the beach. The food at the buffet was good, as well as at the specialty restaurants (italian and french). Our room was always immaculate after maid service.

Of the two resorts, I would recommend the Boca Chica Resort hands down. You can also get a good deal through Domincanresorts.com.

Hi Grant & Sharon, I too have stayed at the Don Juan many times(not quite as many as Jim though, but over 15 times) I really like the hotel and the location is second to none, with a captains club room you are assured of very little noise at night, the food is good in my opinion but to each thier own. I was there 2 weeks ago and was in a captain club room and had a wonderful stay, I would highly recommend it over the Boca Chica Beach Resort, as I have stayed there many times also(before and after they added the second pool.) I find everyone has thier own idea of what is good and what is not, so you'll have to check it out for yourself. Jim Hinsh is very well travelled in the area and if he has nothing bad to say about it, nor do I, than take it from there. Have a great trip and tell us about your stay when you return.
