DR as destination for gay male vacations

The DR is getting a lot of good publicity in various gay male publications. The DR is fast becoming a resort of choice for many gay men from the US as well as Europe. I for one am glad to see this. I was born in Santo Domingo in 1974 and will be returning for the first time since 1984, with my gringo lover of six years, for carnival season. We are really looking forward to it.

The DR is a great place for everyone. It is still a Catholic country with Catholic ideals, and good behavior is hoped for. The Catholic stance on homosexuality is that people who have homosexual inclinations are children of God. The behavior is seen as disordered, but no better or worse than other disordered behaviors like adultery, fornication, theft or other behaviors that deviate from Christian norms. Go and have a great time, and behave in a way that everyone can be proud of.

Greetings!

My name is Ray Modesto. I am the president of Amigos Tours, an openly gay tour operator for the Dominican Republic. I have been working for the past three years developing this market, and recently I have been seeing the fruits of my labor.

The Dominican Republic is no longer a secret in the International Gay Market. Gay men and Lesbians from all over the world come to my homeland not just for our beautiful beaches, but for the great service, the hospitable people and our warm and friendly environment. An environment where everyone can be themselves without being frowned upon.

I take gay tours to my homeland two times a year and so far I have NEVER seen a local get offended or look at us in a discriminating way. However, I do warn my travelers that they should exercise discretion when in public. Actions such as kissing in public and exaggerated expressions of affection should avoided.

At present, the island only possesses few establishments that are openly gay and others that are ?gay-friendly.? Thus, we have a lot of work to do in this part of the Caribbean.

Upon request, I can supply a list of all the Gay/Gay Friendly establishments.

yes, joset. I'll try to behave myself too. Sometimes we think we can get away with stuff that we can't get away with in front of our family and neighbors, but I try to remember that God is watching me wherever I am.
