After defeating the all-stars team of Argentina to qualify for the FIBA World Cup, the Dominican Republic is now set on making the cut for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The Dominican Republic has qualified to the FIBA World Cup on three occasions, including making the cut in 2023. But the Dominican basketball team has never played in an Olympic Games.

As of 2020, qualification for the Olympic Games is through the FIBA Basketball World Cup.

According to FIBA, the top two placing teams per continent in the Basketball World Cup automatically qualify, as does the host country, France. At the World Cup, the top two teams from the Americas will qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics. That is, the seven spots will include two teams from Americas, two teams from Europe, one team from Africa, one team from Asia and one team from Oceania.
