The Ministry of Tourism has launched a new repositioning advertising campaign centered around tourist testimonials, third-party endorsements and brand partnerships. The Ministry explains that "The Real DR" is part of a multi-pronged marketing campaign that invites travelers to experience the Dominican Republic's brand through the unscripted statements, stories and testimonials of actual tourists. The campaign seeks to regain consumers' trust and reinforce the Dominican Republic's reputation as a safe Caribbean destination, says the Ministry. The campaign includes advertising, public relations, social media, celebrity marketing, trade marketing, paid search and search engine marketing.
"As a destination, we have always focused on providing visitors with a world-class experience that makes them want to return," said Magaly Toribio, marketing advisor for the Dominican Republic Ministry of Tourism.
The Dominican Republic received more than 6.5 million tourist arrivals in 2018. The campaign seeks to show why visitors continue to select the Dominican Republic as their go-to destination for more than just the beaches, but a mixture of the divine culture, astounding nature, intriguing history and hospitable people.
"This campaign offers a level of transparency and authenticity like nothing we have ever done before," said Toribio. "We are looking forward to sharing the beauty and culture of our country through the words and first-person experiences of our tourists."

Club Med Miches Playa Esmeralda opens
Club Med has opened its second all-inclusive resort near the town of Miches on the eastern coast. A green-minded resort, Club Med Miches Playa Esmeralda is located north of Punta Cana. It is a first for the Miches beach area. The resort is also the first of Club Med's new Exclusive Collection brand to open in the Americas.
The new Club Med features four boutique villages, with no more than two stories in each to blend into the surrounding foliage. The villages are named Archipelago, Caribbean Paradise, Emerald Jungle and Explorer Cove. Each offers a different environment, activities and accommodations.
"The opening of Club Med Michès Playa Esmeralda marks a huge milestone in Club Med's history," notes Carolyne Doyon, president and CEO of Club Med North America. "This new resort embodies the strong trailblazing spirit at the heart of Club Med. With Christmas Day falling on a Wednesday in 2019, expect the partying to go on almost all week long. Take note that Tuesday, 24 December 2019 is Christmas Eve, the day that most families get together for dinner. Most companies outside of the tourism and entertainment business will work half-day or not at all on the 24th and Christmas Day on the 25th is a national holiday. Many will get back to work on the 26th and the 27th. But with schools and universities off for the holidays, thousands of people will get the week off.
On the next week, New Year's Eve falls on Tuesday, 31 December, making for more extra vacation time. 1 January is a national holiday. Then again, the next Friday and Saturday of that week will become a long weekend because Monday, 6 January is an official holiday that celebrates Three Kings Day.
All in all, Christmas holidays will be in full development starting Friday, 20 December 2019 through Tuesday, 7 January 2020.

Puerto Rican singer Chayanne is booked for a 15 February 2020 performance at Juanillo Beach in Cap Cana, in the southern Punta Cana beach area. His "Desde el Alma" Tour is a Pav Events and Cardenas Marketing Network production. He will be delighting his fans with his hits "Un siglo sin ti", "Dejaría todo", "Atado a tu amor", "Di que sientes tú", among others.
Lights, sounds, choreography, special effects and visuals will be part of the concert on the beach.
Tickets are available at Uepa Tickets, CCN National Supermarket Services and Jumbo from RD$2,390.
Tourists headed that way are recommended to book lodging in the many accommodations available in Cap Cana.
