I know that in Miami the word in Spanish for a drill bit is broca. I've bought 100'a of them from Cuban suppliers there. Several hardware stores here do not recognize that word at all. One guy tells me the word is oja, as in leaf. I know that a circular saw blade is called an oja, and maybe by extension it could be any saw blade, but drill bits?
Any knowledge on the Dominicana palabra for drill bit?

Or punta de taladro

Or mecha de taladro

Mecha alone is also the word for the fuse on a stick of dynamite

When I ask for 'una mecha' they always know what I mean, but maybe they don't sell dynamite at the ferreteria.....
