Can anyone tell me the legal drinking age in the Dominican Republic.

Legally? 18. Reality? Get the money on the table.

Anyone can buy beer or rum at any "colmado" at any time in any town around the island. Absolutely nobody is uptight about this. --Except that in the discotecas of some of the cities they are cracking down on minors in these places--as they should.

But I could send my 2 1/2 year old grandson to the corner store and get a beer--if he would carry it!! LOL!

A society model may or may not apply to a foreign environment. What has led the US not to allow minors under 18 to buy alcoholics ?. What has led Europeans countries to allow for more flexibility ? . There are customs in the DR as well which are fit to the country and even further down to areas
