Ok guys, here is an update on the EDTA chemical usage.
I used to throw away my inverter batteries after 1 1/2 to 2 yrs (tops) usage. back then they didn't cost as much as today. The batteries used to hold less and less charge after 1 1/2 yrs of active usage and then die off. then someone explained on DR1 how to treat your inverter batteries with EDTA chemical and rejuvinate the dying batteries, thus restoring them as factory new. I was skeptical at first because it sounded too good to be true. I figured it would help me buy a few more months of usage out of them.
I first treated my batteries about a yr ago when this EDTA stuff first hit DR1 website. I had noticed that my batteries were lasting longer and longer charge. I was getting as much as new batteries charge from old dying batteries. then I threated my neighbor's 4 yrs old almost dead batteries and they are still working strong today. Now I treated my batteries again after not touching them for an year and they have become strong again like new. My batteries are 3 yrs old now and still work like brand new. I am pretty sure I will get many more mileage out of them . maybe years worth of time. I am really impressed with this localy sold EDTA (from santo domingo). Please don't ask me where they sell them because I was given this for free from a friend who got it from santo domingo.
Long live EDTA and long live inverter batteries.

Thanks for the reminder. I remember seeing that thread but never got around to telling my family about it. Replacing 8 batteries at a time adds up quick!! When I go in December I'll buy some of that stuff and put it in the batteries....

It is always nice to see an unbiased endorsement! So, quick question, is this something you should also do with car batteries??? Or is that totally different?

ok let me ask you guys a question while we are on the subject of batteries.
My Girl friends father has a 2 battery system in their house with the inverter that allows the batteries to run 110 when the power goes off. My buddies down there all have 8-12 batteries!!!!!!!!! they get to use more appliances and they run longer with the higher number of batteries. I was thinking last time down about buying another pair of batteries for the Girl friends house. Will I have to look into buying a new-- or Larger inverter??? as well....or will the inverter that is currently used with the 2 battery system work with four batteries as well? Alos any other considerations needed when moving up in the number of batteries used?......thanks...bob

ok thanks for the reply. They are pretty big batteries for only 6 volts each. But it is possible the size doesnt mean much..maybe just longer capacity........so right now they can only run 1K of power when the batteries are in use... and adding more wont run more lights and or the refridge if it cant be run now...right?...but it will allow what ever is running to run for more time....which really doesnt seem to be the issue.. the power goes out every day, but never more than half a day it seemed.....is it a big project moving up to a larger inverter AND more batteries....they only have the batteries mounted on an outside wall about 9 feet up on their own bracket... the inverter is just inside the wall...

one more question.. this is probably something better left for buying in the DR, as opposed to haveing shipped there from america....correct? ( talking new larger inverter and more batteries)...if I was going to just buy batteries, i would just buy them locally. I think they were around $2K rd each......that was at some dept store in santiago.......bob

Hijacked

Thanks guys for hijacking this thread, was somewhat interesting info at least.
Pleeeeeeeeese, does anyone know where to buy this EDTA?

SORRY, just realised the answer to my question was in one of your posts, my fault for skimming over the posts too quickly.
By the way, I did do a search and came up with this thread only.

Thanks, but you were quicker on the trigger than me, as you see by my edited version, I did eventually see it.

does a thread EVER have just one path to take? I think not. Each one is dynamic. You get stimulation and your answer may be more plentiful, and more specific in time......all those that have an answer you seek, reply to it.....if more reply in another fashion, they still didnt have your answer. they just made the thread longer, thats all. they dont erase the answer you seek. Drink up people!

I was looking up for information for bad blood circulation and guess what I found…EDTA is used in many treatments! Guess I should have a shot myself before filling up my batteries!

Some general info about EDTA:
Does EDTA work on other areas?
It has been reported a good effect on following problems: Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer, multiple sclerosis, hearing, vision, arthritis, back pain, whiplash, headache, joint pain and improves liver functions and cholesterol levels. And it has shown a positive effect on children with autism.

EDTA, an amino acid, is a chelating agent that binds metals. As an oral form it assists in preventing oxidation within the GI tract by binding the oxidizing metals. EDTA provides protection against blood coagulation (clots). Non absorbed EDTA in the bowel may provide benefits by reducing oxidation and binding to mercury and other metals.

The FDA approved IV EDTA chelation as a treatment for lead poisoning. Physicians administering the chelation for lead toxicity observed that patients who also had atherosclerosis (fatty-plaque buildup on arterial walls) or arteriosclerosis (hardening of the arteries) experienced reductions in both conditions after chelation.29 Since 1952, IV EDTA chelation has been used to treat cardiovascular disease.30

Cardio Renew is a 100% liquid blend of pure EDTA (Ethylene~Diamine~Tetra-acetic~Acid). Only a liquid can provide you the time advantage of a quick absorption rate of up to 95% into your circulatory system. This in turn goes directly to work chelating calcium as well as other minerals and heavy metals out of your body.

Abbreviation for ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid, an additive used in some processed foods to eliminate the possibility of rancidity caused by the transfer of trace metals during the manufacturing process. EDTA has a wide variety of nonculinary uses, including the treatment of lead poisoning.

A class of synthetic, phosphate-alternative compounds used to reduce calcium and magnesium hardness in water. EDTA is also used to prevent bleaching agents from becoming active before they're immersed in water and as a foaming stabilizer. EDTA does not readily biodegrade and once introduced into the general environment can redissolve toxic heavy metals trapped in underwater sediments, allowing them to re-enter and recirculate in the food chain. ...
