Emma Polanco, sworn in Wednesday, 23 April 2025, as the new president of the Dominican Republic’s Chamber of Accounts, has promised a “transparent and responsible” administration, seeking to restore public trust in the embattled oversight body. The Chamber of Accounts is tasked with auditing government institutions.
Polanco, a certified accountant and educator, assumed leadership for the 2025-2029 term. She vows to tackle the “difficult task” of rehabilitating the Chamber of Account’s reputation. The administration of her predecessor, Janel Ramírez, was marked by major differences between the audit members that did not enable the progress of objectives set when they were appointed.
