Been to all, Iberostar is the best, but beyond our budget. This is an end of the year trip for the school teachers and we have been to Sunscape and a few others. Since we are all Dominicans going the weekend crowds dont bother us.The only 2 AI resorts I would stay at in Puerto Plata are Iberostar and Sunscape in the summer.......winter you can add Gran Ventana

We have a Dominican travel agency that is good for getting the best rates available, but thanks for the offer. We pay the transport and subsidize the teachers, but their family members aren't subsidized by us. Every year we try to go somewhere different, having did the southwest before the Pandemic. Nobody wants to go to Punta Cana, so North Coast is the place this year.I vacationed at Iberostar at the beginning of this month and it was good - food and size wise. But a little pricey as you mentioned. I thought they would give locals a better deal, but not the case as I found out. Paid almost full price for my Dominican girlfriend. I had a post earlier about "local vs tourist resort rates" and the good number on the forum were able to get "local" prices. Out of curiosity, I looked for rates in September (hurricane season + 3 mos in advance) and the price is 1/2...
Bob, have you tried negotiating...there's a guy I know at Iberostar reception ...let me know if you want to try...
I find the lack of interest of the natives in PC very telling. We have a Dominican travel agency that is good for getting the best rates available, but thanks for the offer. It’s part of the HODELPA HOTEL GROUP which it’s a top Dominican hotel corporation , specially in SantiagoLooking for a resort near the end of June to take 30 plus adults and around 10 kids. Emotions price is about right, but anuone have any recent personal experience staying there.
The resorts in Punta Cana are great but the long trip when you have a bunch of little kids, extra expense, and weed covered beaches make it not worth it.. Jarabacoa is only a couple hours whereas Punta Cana is around 6 hours travel.I find the lack of interest of the natives in PC very telling.
I meant POP only being two hours from Jarabacoa. The resorts in Punta Cana are great but the long trip when you have a bunch of little kids, extra expense, and weed covered beaches make it not worth it.. Jarabacoa is only a couple hours whereas Punta Cana is around 6 hours travel.
