Hola everyone :classic:

I went to Expreso Jade for lunch.

There are around 40 dishes to choose from. The food is prepared quickly and the staff is very nice and serves you well.

However, the food was just average.

I once went to another Chinese restaurant in Santo Domingo called "Chino Lee" but the food at that place was also just average.

Maybe I should open up a Chinese restaurant. :chinese:

The chicken was okay. And the fried rice was just so-so

The dumplings were "good" (but not "great")

PS - Expreso Jade and a couple of other chains like Fai Chan are fast-food Chinese restaurants, so that explains the so-so quality. I think they're OK for what they are. The better ones - i.e. proper restaurants - are Dragon House (one branch in Chinatown and one in Naco), Chino de Mariscos in Bella Vista and the one in Piantini, Bella Cristal which is supposed to be the best. Also the Taiwanese Para Te in El Mill?n. There are two or three Korean places too - it would be interesting to hear what you think.

As a public service...

it would be valuable to visit all six outlets and compare the same dishes from each one and rate them on a scale of 1-10 or any other suitable scale. I've not yet had "great" food from a franchise or chain of restaurants,:chinese:eek:r otherwise. Glad to see you posting again.

there is a fairly new chinese restaurant in china town,on Mella 352,about 2 blocks before La Sirena.Very clean, air cond and a great menu and very reasonably priced. All in the 90 to 170 peso range except for the camarones. And quite a large portion. It is now my regular 2 or 3 times a week. The fried fish and french fries are also great,if you are a fish and chips person.

When you eat here you won't need the others. Well over 150 Entries, all excellent quality at reasonable prices. AC, bar, very large, open all day, great service. Go on Sunday and you will see 200 Chinese eating.

Do any of these do Dim Sum. Specifically Shrimp Har Gow, or Shrimp Shumai, ginger squid? Maybe Chino de Mariscos does?

Chino de Mariscos is supposed to be one of the best - but haven't been there, sorry.
Dim Sum I've only seen at Palacio del Jade in Gazcue (the street between Adrian Tropical on the Malecon and Independencia) - check if it's still open, though.
Dragon House (branches in Naco and Chinatown) does shrimp Har Gow (sp?) but it might not be on the menu.

There is a simple Chinese restaurant on Ave Nu?ez de Caceras on the right just before the intersection with JFK that has the best fish and wonton soups. Don't remember the name but it is authentic chinese - check it out.

I think you're talking about I think is Jardin Cristal - the one on la Nu?ez. Can't remember the name exactly. But it's quite good. has the 3 Bs Bueno, Bonito, Barato. hehe

As for Palacio del Jade. I had tried their dim sum plates, and was a little disapointed, the Har Gow was al wrapping, and very little shrimp. I'll try the other places mentioned though.

The OP of this thread left in a huff some time back after having a tiff with the boss. Took the menu in his back pack but you're in luck. Thay have a web site at
www.expressojade.com.
Got it in a simple search on Google and they were on the first page.
