We were assigned a project in school to pick an 'orgulloso hispano' and i need some help deciding. It can pretty much be any dead hispano that has contributed to society in a positive way.

I wanted to do Las Hermanas Mirabel, but another girl in the class already chose them, so i'm a little stuck. I want the person to be Dominican, but so far when i do searches, i get the same old people and i wanted to find someone less known, but equally influential.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Gracias! :)

Oscar de la Renta may not be a bad choice, depending on your interests and the scope of people you can write about.

another one could be:
Juan Bosch-.

conclusion: was against Trujillo....was a President...he founded two very important political parties......plus....great poet and writer

ok at first I thought why not but then I reread her original post and it says
"Orgullo Hispano". Someone who has given pride to his people and country.

What about Juan Pablo Duarte and La Trinitaria and others who helped gain independance from the Hatians in the 1800's I love Dominican history!!!

As today is his birthday all Dominican channels today will give you the indication as to how much "orgulloso" is involved.

Why not use Pedro Mir or Jose Marti (I think he was born in DR but influenced Cuba greatly)
