Hiya

I also am looking for flights from DR to San juan, Puerto Rico.

Levaing from preferably POP, or 2nd choice STI.

I tried American Airlines - its quoting me $383 for 16th - 30th May.

DO you reckon if i booked last minute i would get it cheaper?

I tried Delta , as i read about them quite a bit on DR1, but they said they only fly into DR from PR, not the other way around.
I tried a couple others that i read about on here but also had no luck...

Im arriving to DR beginning of may - do u think i could get a cheaper flight if i booked it from DR using local airlines?

Thanks!

The Puerto Rico-Santo Domingo trek is one of the most expensive and profitable in the world for an airline. There is no other option than American Airlines/American Eagle. The fares fluctuate. I would suggest you check back regularly to try for a cheaper fare for the date. Also that you be flexible in your dates and hours to fly. They occasionally put on fare sales. The rate can go down to around US$200. But on top of that you have to add in about another US$100 in taxes and airport charges.

There is Carribean Sun airlines out of STI. I believe that you would have some other choices if you decide to fly out of SDQ.

AA Fares SJU-SDQ

Dolores is right 100%. American Airlines has f#@cked over travelers between the two destinations for the longest time charging whatever they like. Of course, Dominican taxation does not help matters any. Sometimes, taxes are about as much as the plane ticket. I travel to SD four or five times a year, so I may check the AA website several times a day. The fare goes up 20.00, goes down 10.00, and so on but not much more than that. I wonder how AA has been able to maintain their monopoly for so long on such a lucrative route?

If people supported the other airlines AA would not have such a monopoly between the Dominican and PR. This goes for any other destinations. People have the final word.

Great advice guys!!

Caribben Sun were really helpful.
And their prices were better than AA.
They are charging $313, fro a 2 week return ticket to SJU
where AA charge $383, so a $70 difference.

So thanks for the help!!!
