If this is true, you Sosuanites be cayful!

El Nuevo Norte reports that the flooding this week in Sosua is due to the construction of a 3 story building that caused the diversion of the Caned?n stream, resulting in the severe flooding in Sosua. According to the report, Medio Ambiente approved of the construction. The building that created this problem is reported to be located near the Road Works Department and propane gas station.

Much damage and destruction to property is being reported by local businessmen including loss of power generators, expensive woodworking equipment, and other property.

Even if true, they will deny it is their fault.

Blame it on "UNEXPECTED, UNUSUAL" amount of rain fall. therefore, not their fault.

the built huge water channels in places like gran canaria to deal with this problem(not a place to get caught when it starts to rain) I dont expect this will ever happen here,

I can hear a torrent running past my house in the woods but have no idea where the water actually goes to......supersuper I should imagine

Dont repeat everything you hear. People trapped in poverty live in flood prone areas and next to rivers that flood on a regular basis. As far as "selling their new home"- you cannot be writing about the DR!!

Actually I heard that same thing...from a Dominican. It went something like this. The family lives in a flood prone or really bad area, say El Tablon (not sure on spelling). They are re-homed. After a year or so, they sell their home, go back to a poor area, wait for the gov't to give them another 'new' house and so it goes. It is the Dominican, anything goes....
