Going to be at Sunscape CDM ourselves from March 19th to April 2nd. Looks promising near the national park/Soana island area. I have some info from a guy who did some fly fishing there last May. I am planning to get myself a ride (boat)to the area and check it out as much as possible from the boat. If it looks feasible, I might even just get dropped off in the am's to wade the flats and get picked up about noon (there are tons of boats taking people to Soana Island every day). Would be cheaper for us to share the cost. If you are interested send me an email. I can send you the email I got from my contact.

Itching to cast...

Hi there chris/jill

The fishing around the casa del mar is basicly exellent.

I took a small telescopic rod and caught lots of Ballyhoo and small stuff most of which I could not name. As for fly fishing...hey give it a whirl cos most of the fish are caught in the first 2 feet of water anyhow!

Tight lines.

Victor.

Well, you guys should have returned from your trip by now.
?where's the fishing report and photos? :)

I was staying over at a resort near Samana a couple years ago and did some casting from a rocky point and got into some kind of fish that looked like a small blue permit. Sorry, i'm originally from the west cost and still trying to get these gulf and caribbean spieces down.
Well, these lil guys put on an awsome fight!!

I could not find a sporting goods store in San. Dom. but made something up from rubber worms and plastic skirts i got from a hardware store. A local saw my home made lure and laughed saying I won't get diddly with it. I couldn't keep 'em off the hook! I ended up giving 2 fish to that same guy, just to rub it in his face. ;)

I"m moving to the DR soon to be with my fiance and will be doing some serious fishing expiditions. I'm coming from Texas and just got into kayak fishing here about 9 months ago and love it. The perfect way to get to the back side of the reefs in the DR.

Did another day once of fishing standing on the edge of a reef ankle deep in water with a strait drop off (not recommended). I saw some really wierd fish fallow my lures up....BIG wierd colorful fish!!. The kind that gets the heart rate up fast! Did'nt get a hookup that day, just strikes.

I'm having a hard time finding any good fishing reports from the DR here. But still have some more threads to read yet.

Hope to hear how you guys did.

Here is some good advise for you. Stay in Texas, buy that big boat you want, or move to St. Louis and fish for Giant Cat in the Mississippi. You will have a lot more fun and it will be less expensive than being with that high maintance fiance of yours. Sorry Jess, could not resist.
