I am a pilot. I fly with a small airplane. I would like to bring my airplane in the Dominican Republic (to fly even with friends). Do you know if it is possible?
Is there already someone that make tourist flights in the island?
Thanks..!

Not sure what the rules are, but I think that there is a demand for Port to Port flights (POP-SDQ) at a good price.

There are hundreds of small airplanes available for reasonable charters.
Most of them are correctly registered and have the necessary permits.

Hi!
Your link point to an autogyro (interesting aircraft even if some models are dangerous). I assure you that my airplane is, instead, very safe and fun...!

I'm sure you meant "very safe and fun", but as it turns out it SURELY is AMUSING to see that people actually get on that thing...How high can you get on that thing?

Oops..! (I am Italian and, as you know, I don't speak well the English).
I have corrected the message and now "my airplane is, instead, very safe and fun...! "

In Italy I can fly 300 meters high.
In the link www.polarismotor.it you can find a lot of news about the fib...
Tks...!

That's equivalent to the 86th floor of the Observatory in the Empire State Building and on a Flying Raft, haha. No Gracias!

But seriously let us know if you get up and running in the DR.

Cheers

Flew on one of those in Punta Cana several years ago - loved it!

Came back less than a year later - no such planes to be found.

No hable, pero my friendly bartender explained -
"Mini - boata - plano - turista? MUCHO VIENTO (wind) - KABOOM!!
MUCHO PROBLEMA!!"

Haven't seen any since.

The Italian law imposes me to fly 1000 feet high (but my airplane can fly very high).
Fly low and in full safety, looking at the sea, the rivers and the vegetation, is very fun...

Why my post has been moved? I asked information on a possible business....

Tks for the answer :)
My airplane is amphibious. It flies on the water and can also fly with the wind. The wind is strong but constant?

I visit only so do not claim to be an expert. From what I recall the wind is mostly steady but can have some fairly strong gusts - probably amplified by how high you would go?

Definitely enjoyed my flight, none the less!

There are similar airplanes in Florida, Cuba and other Caribbean islands.
I believe that in certain times (morning and afternoon) is possible to fly every day (almost). ;)
Besides the bureaucratic licenses, the problem is to know if there will be enough clients...

I know that jet skis are highly regulated on the island. Most places they are banned. I don't know how this would impact your idea as when you are on the water, before takeoff and after landing, you may be subject to the same regulations. On this island there is a regulation or law for everything, as long as it can generate tax money or payoffs.

Also in Italy my airplane is considered a boat when it is in water (sic!) and also in Italy taxes exist everywhere (sic!).
Tks, Howmar.

I fly my Cessna 182 from FL to the DR with no problems whatsoever. I'm not sure about available maintenance, however.

Thanks Cobraboy :)
I have written to the Dominican Consulate in Italy to have information about the licenses that I should get. I will inform the forum.
