The problem with spending US$ 25M on a property in DR is that the Dominican Culture isn't about maintaining incredibly high standards, and the infrastructure in terms of electricity, water, and the level of security isn't high enough to support that type of development. At least in my view.

My brother owns a place in Cap Cana. He knows the realty company (one of the companies trying to sell units) and they have told him there has not been the interest they thought there would be. But maybe in time it will change. While I enjoy spending time at his place in Cap Cana I do not think I would want to live there.

The horror stories of investing here are endless. We sold our beach front condo 2 years ago and the changes that have happened there since we sold make me feel sorry for the people that bought it and some of the other owners.

We are very happy renters now. Unless it's the deal of a lifetime I can't see us investing in property here anymore. To much corruption and zero protection from it.

Cap Cana is only going to appeal to a certain type of buyer. Prices for these "residences" as St Regis calls them are rather high but prices in Cap Cana are high.
