I never paid attention as to how quickly one can get dehydrated from plane travel. On the ground I try to alway relplenish immediately after the sweat pours out. I'm not one that carries a liter of water around with me as I never expreienced the pain associated with dehydration. Eight days ago I traveled to he states. THe next day my body was racked in pain and my energy level as at a zero.I went on line and self medicated but it took forever to feel better. (4 days). Next time I'm going straight to ER and get a bag of drip.

This is something to watch and it can get very serious if not attended to.

Dehydration can be very serious, especially as we age. It doesn't take much to become dehydrated. With the climate in the DR, I always have my water bottle with me.

It happened to me once with my first bout of cellulitis (which I didn't know I had). Spent some time on an IV drip. Not pleasant at all.
Yep. Uncontrolled it can lead to septic shock and pneumonia. Happened to me twice - one of the times I went from totally fine to knocking on death door in an emergency room for 4 days.

And, at the same time, taking steps not to over-hydrate, which, in turn, causes more severe dehydration. Many folks are also on diuretics which are compounded with anti-hypertensives, which is a major consideration when taking in lots of fluids in the heat. Also, many consume alcohol which also has diuretic effects.

Drink when your are thirsty, eat when you are hungry, sleep when when you are tired. Do everything in moderation and you will probably be healthy and happy.
Except for the Karen's of the world, nothing makes them happy.

If you were diabetic and drank when you are thirsty and ate when you were hungry, you'd be dead. So there's that advice

Whenever I fly, I make sure I drink the entire two ounces of water that they give me.
