If you are transferring to a flight right from where you land in Europe you do NOT go through customs and you are in a secure International terminal you only need the original Visa boarding a flight to your destination. NOT like the US...............
That's correct.
I don't believe that a Dominican changing planes at an airport in Spain needs a transit Visa.

Do I need a visa if I am only transiting?

...
Need required entry docs for the final destination wherever / whatever that is. Example.. checking in to London via Madrid with no UK visa you may get stuck at SDQ.

Which is in contradiction to the post by Drperson.

I already knew the visa should be for the country where the most time is spent, not the country where the plane arrives. No separate visa is needed.
And nobody will know where you spend most of your time.
You can get a visa for Spain, travel to Belgium, spend there two months and get back.
There is simply no control on the borders.

True, but you may be required to show a plan of where you're planning to stay. That plan may of course change afterwards, but that's on you... When entering Schengen, the passport control may also ask for your hotel/other reservations if they want. Again, you may change that reservation afterwards but still...

They have the possibility to ask but once you get a Schengen visum they should have solid legal reasons to deny access.
