Hi Sue......the link in the previous message has good advice......one thing I'd like to add...(I am Canadian and just married a Dominican in April). You can get a solemn declaration that you're single from any notary public in Canada...get it translated into Spanish and send the original declaration plus the translation to the Dominican Consulate in Montreal (1470 Peel St. Suite 263, Tower A, Montreal, PQ H3A 1T1) along with a money order for $50 U.S. They'll send it back to you with their official certification. You might want to phone them first to make sure the amount hasn't changed (514-284-5455). This way you won't have to spend valuable beach time sorting out this paperwork in the D.R.....Congratulations!

I was married in Dom Republic April 22/95. The only thing they require is your birth certificate and document from Vital Statitics stating that you have never been married before or are legally divorced.

We both had passports so they put our passport number on our marriage certificate but I am not sure if you require a passport or not.
