How do you all go about getting your credit or debit cards here. I tried having it sent in a small package with some other mail and stuff. It was delivered by USPS to my blumbox in Miami and they say it never arrived. Is there a more reliable way? No flights yet direct to the north coast so mules are out.
USE DOMEX IN PUERTO PLATA
VERY GOOOD AND THOROUGH !

The problem is that you can not import certain items into the Dominican Republic.
Cash or Credit Cards, Money orders. And limits on daily transactions from in and out of a country. (not just DR)
This is a form of embezzlement. You will find the same to be with most countries...

The DR being very proficient as they do inspect most items on arrival.
Some of these rules do not apply if you are carrying them directly.. and within limits (under 10,000usd).
and/or you need to go through your bank directly.

Same rules apply trying to make large deposits. Someone needs to report where the money comes from.
It is an international thing.. although I think mainly headed by the USA as part of the war on drugs.. Or some such measures.
If you do get it here... it is because it slipped through the cracks

Basically all governments report to each other movements of money, goods etc... This is why items have declared values, require invoices, and country of origin. Not just money but textiles, The mattress pad says do not remove until deliver to consumer, the towels say made in Egypt, Food products must be labeled blah blah...

Other items such as weapons, pornography, wood products, agricultural, animals etc....

According to USPS These items are NOT EXPORTABLE:
Coins; banknotes; currency notes, including paper money; securities of any kind payable to bearer; traveler’s checks; platinum, gold, and silver; precious stones; jewelry; watches; and other valuable articles are prohibited in Priority Mail Express International shipments to the Dominican Republic.
