Hello, I was wondering if anyone could help me.

I will be going to Santo Domingo in late October/early November (Alone) and I was wondering what is the best, and cheapest way to get there from Punta Cana Airport?

It will be my second visit, Last time I was lucky enough to meet someone at Manchester Airport who was going to roughly the same place as me (As my Spanish isn't too good) and managed to get a taxi then a bus.

But I was wondering would a taxi direct from the airport be a better option? and what are the rough price for a taxi from Punta Cana to Santo Domingo?

Also I heard there is a plane from PUJ to SDQ for around $75?

All help is very welcome

bus

Take a gua gua from outside the airport to Higuey and a direct bus from there.

Last bus is 7 or 8pm I think

Take a taxi to the Bavaro Express "parada" in Friusa. They have express buses going to Santo Domingo 4 times/day 7am, 10am, 2pm and 4pm. It is a great service and the last time I used it earlier this year I paid roughly RD 250 which is less than USD$10. They make a quick stop in La Romana for restrooms/refreshements and it is approx.4hours door to door. Good luck!

Thanks

Thank you.

My Spanish is very limited and would hate to get lost or miss a bus (Last time I arrived it was around 10PM due to flight delays). I was panicking last time, I was very lucky to meet someone before I arrived in DR who was heading in the same direction.

I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Thanks

Thanks =)

I emailed PAXCAB and they said:
Dear Antony,

Thank you for your request.

We are happy to confirm pricing and availabiilty for a private ground transfer from Punta Cana International airport to Santo Domingo city, one-way.

Total price for private transfer is: 130 USD (Taxes included)

I think this will be the option I'll go for. They apparently help you with your luggage at the airport.

Wondering...

I may be setting off to the Dominican Republic in a few weeks and was wondering how legit are PAXCAB? I really don't like giving out my card details to just anyone and am hoping they are a trustworthy company.

Also does anyone know of a cheap-ish hotel in Santo Domingo? Last year I stayed at the Hotel Delta, And enjoyed my stay but I believe it has gone up $20 more per night (I payed $59 a night last year, Now $79, I'll have to look into this). I really need a hotel in that area of the city as I have friends close by.

Any help is much appreciated.

Hey Antonio,

I have used Paxcab previously, when I used them they seemed ligit, the driver was helpful, also I checked with my credit card after the payment was done to make sure that no additional funds were taken from it, but all was well, they only charged for the transfer service. Hopefully, it works out well for you as it did for me.

As for a well priced hotel I can suggest hotel-atarazana stayed there twice, very nice boutique hotel, good location, in the heart of Zona Colonial, price included breakfast too. However, there are many other small hotels in Santo Domingo that are well priced as well.

Hope that helps,

If you are looking to stay in the Bella Vista area of the city, rather than the Colonial Zone, Hotel Bella Vista is quite close to Hotel Delta. According to tripadvisor.com the average price is $58. I've never stayed there, nor do I know anyone who has, so I can't tell you if it's any good.

If you are arriving early, your cheapest option is by bus. Do a search on the forum with keywords "Bus Punta Cana" and you will get more info than you need.

If you are arriving after 4pm (landing time), your best bet is to take a cab to Santo Domingo.

I can get you a reliable taxista to take you to SDQ for US$ 110 or 3500 pesos, waiting for you at the time of your arrival with your name.
Several people here have used it. This is not a business offer (there's nothing in it for me other than helping out). PM me for info and arrangements.

Taxi company from the airport will charge you about 150 to 160 dollars.
