Sorry, but going to a resort for a bachelor party will limit the extreme fun you are looking for. But hey enjoy the shuffle board and the buffets you party animals. If you really want to have a wild time for your boys, then cancel the AI and head for sosua-cabarate.I get the feeling that this is more of what you are looking for.

If you guys stay at the resort, i think the go carts will be the most fun that you have.

I would agree with the above comment. The RIU is a decent resort and it can be fun, but not the kind of fun you guys are looking for. There is one dance club in the resort that is open until like 2 or 3 AM an that's about it. The other drinking will have to be done during the day at some of the other on site bars, but those close pretty early at night.

Sosua or Cabarete sounds more like places for Bachelor party...If you do stay at the resort then at least you'll want to get out and visit those places. The Riu is outside of town.

BTW I just watched that movie "The Hangover"...hope you it doesn't get THAT crazy.

You wild and crazy guys can forget the 8-9 wild experience and get ready for a 0-2 experience at the rio resorts unless your bringing the girls in with you.

Help Needed too

Hi,

I sorry I can't help with the advice because I am seeking the same thing. I have to plan a bachelor party trip in the DR and it is coming up real fast. First week of August.

Anyone have a good agenda...what part of the DR should we be going to. The guys are pretty wild and are looking to party hard...also some golf or fishing.

I agree with everyone else...if you end up staying at the Riu, you have to leave and go to Sosua and Cabarete. I just came back from the Riu, and we left the resort at night to party. That was the only way it was worth it! You can book a taxi from the resort...or meet locals to drive u around ;)

If it's girls and partying you want, then the AI thing is just stupid. They are not guest friendly and you will spend a small fortune going back and forth to the sosua or cabarate clubs. You can get a decent hotel in sosua, you can walk to the beach, and you have all the places within walking distance that you will need to eat..

I cant see any reason that a group of young guys would want to be cramped up in a AI..well maybe because everyone tells you how dangerous it is to leave the resorts.Well it's probably more dangerous being confined with all the sankies and sankets in the resort.

Please cancel the AI, cancel your jeep safari and head for sosua and cabarate..and go back to the AI for the honeymoon with your wife.

Well if they have booked the RIU, I would recommend a few things:

1) one night at Cristal Night Club (15 mins by taxi at night)
2) one night cruising Sosua bars (40 mins)
3) one night Cabarete bars on the beach (1hr)

this will involve some taxi expenses, and of course drinks/girls.

Puerto plata is only 10 min away from the RIUs and there are lots of strip type clubs - a new one opened last week.

Have to agree with the advise above or expect to pay more for another room rental for short term entertainment in a strip club or cabana or paying full price for an outside room or apartment. Also once your outside the resort all the money you paid for included food and drinks wont get you anything. I went to a resort on my first DR trip years ago. I had a good time but will never stay in a resort again.
