I can not speak highly enough about this relatively new course ,now called PGA Oceans 4 ,which is situated inside the gated community of Playa Romana Nueva. It is just off the San Pedro to La Romana autopista but much closer to San Pedro. I think that there are many golfers on this site who, like I, find the hugely increased green fees in the Bavaro area rather difficult to stomach and courses where the scenery that is mainly backs of houses and apartments.
PGA oceans 4 at this stage does not have homes bordering every fairway and maybe you can see four in total. There are four lovely holes along the Caribbean and another ten that are along large lakes that should not come into play and the remaining four are bordered by scrub. Fairways are mainly of bermuda grass with most very well covered and the greens run very fast for the DR .The soil is springy and very comfortable to walk on. Bunkers are well cared for.
I have been playing quite a lot at PGA Oceans 4 this year and it is far more enjoyable that the pretentious and overpriced courses at Casa de Campo and not as wet underfoot as La Estancia although La Estancia has some great holes. It runs rings around Metro or Guavaberry . I think that on some days the course offers good discounts but on any day I have never payed more than $79 after showing my Fedogolf number. The carritos de golf are new and run smoothly and the course is seldom overcrowded. I give it the thumbs up on every count except the wind which never wants to stop at present. No I do not live there nor receive a commission .!!

I golfed there last week. It is a beautiful golf course and quite challenging. They had a 2 for 1 special on Wednesdays so golf was $40 usd.
My favorite course here is still Iberostar.
