Government to start construction of Navarrete bypass this year

The Ministry of Public Works is moving ahead for the construction of the Navarrete north beltway in Santiago province. The road is a major link to communities in the Northwest.

The Ministry reports that 14 groups submitted bids for the construction of the 7km bypass highway. The highway is expected to cost around RD$7 billion. The contract will be awarded on 15 June 2023 and the construction should take 18 months.

The construction is being given priority now that the Abinader administration is moving ahead with the port and natural gas power complex in northwestern Montecristi.

I guess this makes it even less likely that the Amber Highway ever will happen
Keep in mind this is a Navarrete bypass. Nothing to do with heading north.

You are right. My bad. Towards MonteCristi not Santiago. Anyway, I doubt that Amber Highway will happen anyway. They said three years right, a year ago?

But the Amber Highway is back in the news as being on again, or at least being considered, maybe. Seems like the new Playa Bergantin effort rekindled it:

They announced it, then said a feasibility study torpedoed it. There's been a rework of the plan, and that's what Windy posted. I agree Playa Bergantin may have something to do with it.
