Ginger said:I was wondering if anyone has any thoughts on how and if the travel industry in the Dominican Republic will be affected by the current problems in Haiti?
Hopefully not.
I doubt it'll have any impact.tired_boy said:Personally, any problems in Haiti will not affect my vacation plans to the DR. I f scotland was having problems it wouldn't affect my plans for a holiday in Cornwall!
Probably just seems that way because the British have the good fortune of knowing those Scottsman don't like foreigners giggling at their kilts. While the Haitians however actually like Dominican attire.Chirimoya said:Heh! The English-Scottish border is watertight!

We are a bunch of married guys and we will probably never get another chance to travel without the wives again. We want to make it count. Initially we were set on coming to the DR for cigars, beaches and golf. The situation in Haiti has turned a few of the guys away from the DR.
There is no impact here on the North Coast. I doubt that there will be anything noticeable at all. Everything's normal. Everything will stay normal. No worries. It's easy to become hyper-sensitive reading news reports. Scroll back to the bit about one of the free zone companies on the border being 'attacked' and in the 'shootout' guards were killed, etc. Someone who works there later related to the group through a friend that it was just some nut firing a few shots in the air, no one hurt or hardly even noticed.SaintTaris said:We have put our travel plans on hold. That's also a long way from here. 2-3 hours by car due to the roads. The tourists are packing this place. If what you're looking for is what you've stated you'll be kicking yourself for decades for not having come down. Vegas is great, I love it. Used to have to go there 3x-4x a year, but this is much better!
Tom aka XR I had an ant farm but couldn't find tractors small enough to fit.
Now to really speak like a Londoner all you have to do is figure out what he meant by staying "in cotton wool". By the way, when you find out exactly, would you please let me know? It can be really confusing having a conversation with Robert sometimes! LOL.SaintTaris said:Ohh and Robert, I like the Mommy Boys comment.![]()

Tom aka XR Women who seek to be equal with men lack ambition.
SaintTaris said:What is "in cotton wool?" I wear linen in the summer.
Ooooh! I've been looking for linen for a year here. Can't find anything except some very expensive "Oscar de la Renta" stuff around. Where do you buy it? Know of someplace I could order it online and have it sent to Miami for delivery here for me? I have searched, and searched, and searched!SaintTaris said:What is "in cotton wool?" I think Rob means that you'll feel 'comfortable' somehow if you're wearing 'cotton wool' although I couldn't imagine why. It itches! Worst part is trying to figure out if the colloquialisms he is using are from Britain or Australia. What a mess! :: smile :: Sorry boss!
Although for some reason I have been lately catching myself using the word 'enpitsu' fo 'lapiz' here. And I haven't spoken hardly any Japanese in a decade. Getting old and forgetful I guess.
Tom aka XR How come irons have a setting for permanent press?
