An elderly blind friend of mine will be flying out of POP to Miami and I am wondering if he will be allowed to have someone he trusts to escort him thru security and up to where he will need to pay his small over due exit visa fee? Also would he then be able to have an airport worker get him to the gate and on the airplane? Thanks!!!

Blind flyers have the right to be escorted by airport personnel.

I have a blind friend. I help her book airline tickets, and ask for assistance at the airport in advance
The service is free and they follow her from check-in to board the plane. It may be a possibility

They never allowed me to follow her through security.

The Puerto Plata airport is fully equipped to meet the needs of travelers with disabilities: dedicated lines for wheelchairs, access ramps, migration control and customs with priority exclusively for passengers with disabilities, the elderly and people traveling with babies.

To request this service, please contact your airline directly.

We have used Tony (one of the porters) for many years to help my very elderly mom. He would meet her and take her through passport control, immigration and customs. Very nice guy with limited English. his number is 809520-5353. Tell him Bob and Pat sent you if you contact him.
