President Luis Abinader was in Santiago for the formal inauguration of the US$108 million HOMS Health & Wellness Center. The new 51,000 sq meter extension to the Homs Hospital incorporates mayor advances in health care and is a step forward in the positioning of Santiago as the capital of medical tourism in the Dominican Republic. The HOMS Health & Wellness Center now is a medical center, hotel and convention center complex.
The Dominican Republic has become the leading medical tourism destination in the Caribbean. The Abinader administration has made available attractive financing and terms for private investors to renovate, expand and install the new centers.
