Myself and 3 others are going to be in Santo Domingo in June. Does anyone have any information on this hotel, its room, location, facilities etc. I have checked the review section and there is nothing about this hotel.

Here is the other "half of the story"...The hotel in question, designed and built by its original owner, is set in a very small lot and consequently most of its ground floor facilities are substandard. It is too expensive for what it is....be careful with your credit card charges. During my last visit, my credit card statement showed a US$400 unauthorized charge, purportedly made by a front desk dishonest clerk.

How would you caompare the Continental to the Hispanolia? Is there a pool, lounge off street parking at the Continental? How are their "Superior" rooms?

Thanks

If you are looking for a pool, definitely choose the Hispaniola over the Continental.

Tom,

I don't know much about the Continental so I can't answer your questions about that. I can tell you though that I would stay at Hispaniola specially since there is not much difference in price, if any. The only drawback of Hispaniola, if you can call it that, is its location not being in the center of things. For a little variety you can also visit Hispaniola's sister property, Hotel Santo Domingo (my favorite in the capital). Their settings are lovely and their pools huge!

Tom,

I don't know if this might help, but did you try to go through Premier Hotels & Resorts. I believe they still represent Hispaniola in Miami. In any case, I am not sure why the hotel is doing this, sounds like a bad policy. If they won't confirm your reservation in writing and on their own letterhead, do go somewhere else.
