Hotel in Santo Domingo

Can somebody recommend me a nice hotel inthe center of Santo Domingo, not too expensive

What is the "center?",what is "not to expensive?" $100.00 per night,$50.00 per night, help us out. Criss

center is...i would say where the shopping is at.
I am from Europe, so i don't know what the Dominican center is like, or if they have a center with shopping/disco's/bars/cultural things in the neighbourhood
Not to expensive means, as "cheap" as possible for a good 3 or 4 star hotel.
So let's say around $75.00 per night

The Hodelpa Colonial Zone is brand new and about $89.99 per night. The Hotel Mercure is right on El Conde and is about $85.00 per night, Both very nice. The hotels on the malecon run a bit more.

Hodelpa is a nice hotel Boutique(Art Deco style), is not that expensive 40dlls. is located in the downtown.

It is perhaps the most conveniently located of any hotel:

All rooms have a nice view of the Caribbean.

It is within easy walking distance of both the Conde St. (where you'll surely want to go for shopping, restaurants, hobnobbing with other tourists, meeting girls, etc.).

It is also within easy walking distance of the Jaragua Hotel/Casino, Sheraton, and another whose name I don't know.

It has a 24 hour restaurant overlooking the Caribbean, another meeting place for tourists.

It is somewhat old but in your price range, and offers almost everything.
