This decision was announced following negotiations between the National Hotel & Tourism Association (Asonahores) and the Federation of Free Trade Unions of Workers in Tourism, Commerce, and Similar Industries (Futrahotel). The salary increase is expected to positively impact over 100,000 tourism sector workers and their families. A result of the pay increase will be the industries will be raising prices, adding new fees, reducing amenities, and ect. to compensate. They will need to be very careful as how they will accomplish this task without offending tourists, offenses that may result with the softening expected tourism arrival numbers. If solid numbers can be found during this time of trade wars. The everchanging tides of the trade wars are making it difficult for industries to make stable economic plans.

Dominican Resort are like Apple.
They charge what the people are willing to pay.
Their Prices have absolutely nothing to do with the real costs.
In he last year some resort prices doubled or tripled, while the surrounding cost went up maybe 15-20 %.
If they could charge you right now 10$ or 100$ more per night, they would do it, regardless of any wages or costs.
In this (rare) case, i support this increase of wages.
F... this suckers !!! Charging 600$ for a Room that did cost 200$ a year ago.

From the article Starting 1 June 2025, the minimum wage for hotel industry employees in the Dominican Republic will increase by 15%, boosting the base pay to RD$19,320. A further adjustment of 15% is scheduled for 1 June 2026, bringing the total increment to 30% and setting the salary at RD$21,840. Based on that, the current minimum wage is RD 16800. Assuming that like most jobs here, that's six days a week. Not exactly big bucks.
