Myself and my fiancee are planning on booking our honeymoon to the Dominican Republic early in July. As we have never been before, are there any hotels in particular that you could recommend? Also is there any great differences between North, East and South Dominican. I have heard people favour the north more so. Has anyone ever been to the Viva Wyndham Hotel in Samana. We have been offered a deal on this and it looks very nice. Any infomation or personal thoughts would be gratefully appreciated....

Dominicans are people so there is not much difference between north , south and east Dominicans.

If you are staying in an all-inclusive resort in can hardly matter where it is, just how good it is. Even the country is unimportant in an AI hotel, right?

Get the best prices for options in Sosua/POP, or Punta Cana , or La Romana/Boca Chica, then ask which is the best resort here, once you have some intel.

Note the "star" ratings at the tour companies are as worthless as a sankie - one man's 5* resort is another's 3*.

Go for the Wyndham, especially if it is a good deal, because you will want to take advantage of all there is to see and do in Samana, which means you will be forfeiting some lunches that come with the all-inclusive program. See http://dr1.com/directories/hotels/viva_samana.shtml

If your hotel is at the Cozon beach, take note this is a fun beach. One to use a boogie board on. It is best in July.

Samana is an excellent choice for a honeymoon. It is one of those places where there is a lot to see and do, but the natural scenery make it all so romantic. There are many beaches to visit. Near the Wyndham in Cozon there is Playa Bonita beach, which is lovely, and of course El Limon waterfalls. See http://dr1.com/travel/samana/

Viva Wyndham has added the Bahia Estela, also in Samana.

Links were appreciated thankyou. I have been looking on a few Wyndham websites to see if the rooms come with a minibar or fridge but cant seem to find out. Thats the only one thing that I would like to know before making the booking. Thanks again ..... Chris & Debz
