Hey everyone! Im leaving to the DR tomorrow and im wondering if anyone knows what are the hottest clubs right now that play everything from Dembow, Bachata, Merengue, to even old school Dominican classics? Best areas for night life? Im staying for quite a while for Christmas and New Years, so I will be doing lots of traveling around the country, which means i wouldnt even mind traveling to lets say Iguay if thats where the crowd is! lol...I'd love to hang out with some of you!...Im a 23 year old female, Dominican-American...Im staying with family, but i just want to get to know my culture more and meet people, so any non-touristy areas would be a big help! Thanksss:classic:

Try Makumba, Boca Negra and Prestige Club in SD.

That kid is amazing! Those kids are insane at dancing dembow! My cousins all dance like crazy just like that! But I was actually looking for a spot with people around my age or a little older?? Doesnt have to be a night club in particular, but how about around the malecon? Or Santiago? Any idea where theres a place or street where the crowd goes nuts with dancing and partying? Its Christmas and New Years, and my family and friends are ALWAYSSS talking about how crazy it gets this time of year! Thanks again everyone:squareeye

In your demographic this time of year (Christmas), the city is split between "Chopos/Dom Yorks" and "Jevitos". I'm guessing the former based on your music preference. That being the case, stick to Av. Venezuela, Zona Oriental etc. The exception being Platinum and JetSet on Independencia.

Don't worry, if you have never been here before, it will not take you long to see the difference and how "classiest" the city is and how they are segregated when it comes to nightclubs.

And the latter? Where would they go? I am familiar with Venezuela but remember on my first trip to Santo Domingo being taken to a very nice lounge by the son of the hotel owner but since I had very little Spanish at time and it is so long ago I don't remember what side of town it was in. I have friends from Spain heading down the last week in December and would like to give them some options.

I feel ya but honestly, it was my first night in the DR and although I have been many more times that night in the hipster bar was one of the most hospitable experience in the DR. Only black dude in a very white crowd and they made an effort to make me feel very comfortable.
