How long does it take to get a passport in the DR

My friend wants to get a passport, he is waiting now for many weeks for a paper that should come from Santo Domingo. Is this normal that is takes such a long time, and how much time does it take to get a visa for holiday ??? Anyone has some experience in this, or is there something I could do to speed it up ???

Depends on what the paper is. The government is now issuing passports in a day through a new modern system, but the person needs to have all the necessary papers. I think this can be done at the passport office at the Puerto Plata International Airport.

Getting a visa is something else. The person will have to prove a high level of solvency to get a US or Canadian visa, or even a European visa. The consuls also seek that the person have a major reason to not stay abroad.

are you talking dominican passport or US, if us go to consulate and you'll get it the same day, i have also heard that a dominican passport is only a couple of days

Is het een reispas of zoekt hij zijn cedule paspoort ?

Ik heb geen idee, Wim. Hij heeft geen paspoort, wat heeft hij nodig om naar Europa te reizen ????
