Hi! My family and I have reservations at the Iberostar Punta Cana for the third week in June. Anyone have any advice, warnings, etc.? Our departure plane doesn't leave until 9:00 p.m. Will we still be able to eat and drink "free" until we leave on the bus to go to the airport? What exactly are "courtesy" rooms? Any recommendations will be greatly appreciated. After reading some of the reviews I am a little worried about my choice of hotels, but the reviews on Debbie's site were good and the Dominica received good reviews here and I read where the Dominica and the Punta Cana are identical. Please respond to susanema@visuallink.com. Thanks again for your help! Susan

Susan,

My wife and I (24 and 27)were in Punta Cana in the beginning of November,1998. We stayed at Melia Bavaro. But We walked along the beach and visited Ibeostar. We think it is good hotel and it is worth spending of vacation. We think that tourist should spent their time within the hotel. There is no sense to go around and especially Do not eat anywhere exept hotel. Let it be as precaution. If You have any question You can contact us.

We just returned 3 weeks ago from same hotel. Our flight also a late flight - courtesy rooms are 2 small rooms with shower for changing. The wait for this was too long so we used washrooms to wash & change. Yes you can eat and drink until the moment you leave the hotel as our wristbands were not cut off at all. You will have a wonderful trip - ours was amazing and would go back in a minute. Try the drink "The Iberostar Special" - it will knock your socks off. Bring lots of sunscreen - it is hot like ______. Join in as many activities that you can, you will meet so many people. You have made a great choice and will not be disappointed.

Have Fun & when you meet Jimmy (entertainment staff) say Ola!!!

Sounds like you had fun. I can't wait until we go! What kind of "activities" did they have?

Hi!

My Wife & I stayed at the hotel the last week of Jan.. We felt the beach was to die for, the rooms are very nice, the service was a little lacking (we went 16-18 hours without toilet paper, even after several calls to the front desk), Bring bug repellent because we got very bit up, The food is best described as mystery meat(in all fairness not everything was bad but below the standard we are used to in Mexico & Jamacia A.I. resorts). We got thru the vacation without any major illness, but many people got sick! Some people had to take antibiotics, and even others had to have I.V. fluids with the antibiotics added!!!!!!!!! We would go back to the Dominican Republic again, but after hearing raves from friends and other people on the plane about the Bravaro Palace,Bavaro Gardens, Bavaro Beach hotels and the good food,I thinks we'd go to one of those hotels before going back to the Iberostar.
