The International Finance Corporation (IFC) is open to lend for the development of large tourism projects in the Dominican Republic. IFC, a division of the World Bank, is pleased with its recent funding US$34 million for the Tropicalia sustainable tourism development in Miches, north of Punta Cana. The IFC director Judith Green told Listin Diario they are ready to fund efforts under the new Public-Private Partnersips (APP) law. President Luis Abinader has advanced the law would be used to grow tourism projects in beach areas of southwestern Pedernales.
IFC director sees the importance of tourism in the Caribbean region and as a significant pillar of the Dominican economy. She said the IFC is very focused on supporting economically and environmentally sustainable tourism.
