IKEA Story

Around 6 months ago I purchased 8 items at IKEA in Santo Domingo worth approximately RD$400,000, including a large sofa.
At the time of in-store purchased I was told that delivery would take maximum 4 days.
6 months later 3 out of the 8 items are still missing. The 5 items they delivered were delivered individually over the course of the last 4 months. I am writing them daily, including all documentation....no response, except for a one word answer: Esperate!
I also called many times, to no prevail...they say to use email. When I finally went back to the Store with all my docs on hand, I was told to use email, there archive only handle recent purchases.
I have zero hopes to ever receive my paid for products.
My advise to everyone: Unless you can haul the items with you right then at time of purchase, do not buy.

My suggestion is to move up the chain of the command.
Find the regional manager for the store you are dealing with and hit them with this story and scanned copies of your purchase and pictures of what they have not delivered.
Send a email. And if you don't get a proper response make a phone call.
Next step...go right to headquarters.
Much success to you ‼️

We bought a bedroom set at IKEA. It took over 3 months for it to be delivered. They said it was because of issues with shipments. What email address are you using, I can look through my old emails and see if I can find the email we used.

These email address have nothing to do with IKEA - they read as they belong to a middleman or the delivery company (?).
You may be better off sending emails to atencioncliente.sdq@ikea.com.do. as mentioned in post 8 or go straight to the source and contact Sweden.

Phone: 0775- 700 500 (Sweden)

That's what I would have done after a few weeks. Squeaky wheel gets the grease!

I cannot imagine why ANYONE would even consider buying furniture that you have to put together yourself. Now this delivery problem should cinch my opinion on this farce..............

FWIW, they have a lot of furniture that does not have to be assembled. I came within a breath of buying a leather living room set with no assembly required but the sales person literally talked me out of it by telling me I should apply for an IKEA credit card so I could buy it with that and get 15% off.

It made sense to me, so I applied for the card and it took them forever to approve me (even though I have a 846 credit score in the U.S.), and by that time I got the card I lost interest in the furniture. lol

My four point plan... (and trust me I spend a fortune in IKEA)

They offer a 90 day guarantee, you can refund any product within 90 days if you are unhappy. I would suggest you just say that you want to cancel the order for the items that have not been delivered. This should be reasonably easy to do.

If that doesn't work, assuming you paid by credit card, I would contact your bank and put in a claim with them, that usually gets things moving. You ordered something for delivery within x days, it never came, your card should not have been charged. The bank will reverse the transaction.

I would suggest you revisit the store and refuse to leave until you speak to a manager. The telesales team are actually based in that store and although people will try to fob you off, if you are insistent someone will eventually come and talk to you.

IKEA in Dominican Republic is a franchise run by the same company that owns their franchise in the Canary Islands. If you go onto LinkedIn you should be able to track down the main people, there are plenty of senior managers in Dom Rep who have their profiles on LinkedIn and one of them should be able to help you. But seriously I think it's usually very easy to get a refund from IKEA especially if something hasn't come, so I would just refund anything that hasn't been delivered.

On their website you can ask them to email you when an item comes back into stock. This is a good idea for the missing items and it does work. And I've also found that often it's cheaper to buy from a store in Miami and ship via CPS (or any of the shippers).

I am currently furnishing my casa de campo entirely with IKEA furniture inside and out.
Everybody makes their own decisions with their money as they see fit.
I saw a TikTok video that said when someone was looking at a very nice apartment they wanted it furnished but it was not.
He no problem I will just run to IKEA and get some furniture for it.
The rental agency said: "Rich people don't shop at IKEA"
But the guy renting the apartment said: "But smart people do."
BOOYAO ‼️

Welcome to the club @potus and @MariaRubia ;)

This worked for us …two or so years ago . Miesposa disputed the charge on the credit card …charge got reversed / fully refunded eventually….took our business elsewhere and never looked back .
